Former Calgary Councillor announces run for Alberta NDP




Former Ward 7 councillor for the City of Calgary Druh Farrell has announced that she is running for the nomination in the riding of Calgary Bow for the Alberta NDP.


In the campaign launch video posted to social media, Farrell said that she was excited to run

for the Alberta NDP, "As a born and raised Albertan I can no longer stand by as the government attacks our education and healthcare systems, makes everyday life more expensive, and proposes devastating changes to our wild places."


Farrell served as councillor for 20 years before announcing her retirement from council in early 2021.


The former councillor added that building a bright future for all albertans was a priority for her and NDP leader Rachel Notley, "Alberta has all the ingredients necessary to meet the challenges we face and build a bright future for everyone.


"Rachel Notley is the bold, honest, and compassionate leader we need right now, and I'm thrilled to stand with her and her team," She added.


Calgary-Bow is currently held by UCP MLA and Minister of Advanced Education Demetrios Nicolaides. Prior to that it was held by Alberta NDP MLA Deborah Drevor.
