Alberta Beach Council Vacancy Filled By Acclimation

Bill Love has been acclaimed as the next Councillor to the Summer Village of Alberta Beach. With no other candidates stepping forward to file their paperwork, Love's uncontested appointment brings a smooth conclusion to the vacancy left by outgoing Mayor Angela Duncan.

The announcement was made on Monday, August 28th, on the Villages Website was made after the filing deadline for candidacy had passed.

Former Mayor Angela Duncan tendered her resignation from the position on June 26th, 2023, leaving the Summer Village of Alberta Beach in a state of transition. Residents and local officials were left with the task of finding a successor who could maintain the village's momentum and ensure its residents' voices were effectively represented.

Had multiple candidates thrown their hats into the ring, a by-election would have been scheduled for September 25th. However, Love's uncontested acclaim spares the village the time and resources that would have been involved in organizing and conducting such a by-election.

Alberta Beach is located just 60 km west of Edmonton.

Love joins, Mayor Tara Elwood, Deputy Mayor Debbie Durocher, Councillor Kelly Muir, and Councillor Daryl Weber at the Summer Village Council Table.
