Welcome to a special live edition of Municipal Affairs.
I’m your host, Christopher Brown, and Today, we’re bringing you something a little different, and a whole lot more collaborative.
Across Atlantic Canada, municipalities are facing challenges that don’t stop at provincial borders — housing, infrastructure, climate adaptation, governance reform — the list is long, and the stakes are high.
But today, we’re looking at what happens when leaders come together not just to compare notes, but to work towards common goals in their respective provinces.
Joining us are four of the most influential voices in municipal advocacy across the region — each representing the unique needs of their communities, and the common threads that tie them all together:
From New Brunswick, we welcome Dan Murphy, Executive Director of the Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick.
From Nova Scotia, Juanita Spencer, CEO of the Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities.
From Prince Edward Island, Satya Sen, Executive Director of the Federation of PEI Municipalities.
And from Newfoundland and Labrador, Alexis Foster, Director of Advocacy with Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador.
Together, we’ll explore what advocacy looks like, across provincial lines really looks like, how our provincial organizations are aligning around core issues, and what it means for the future of Atlantic Canada’s towns and cities.
Let’s get started.
