Five Candidates Emerge in Rocky Mountain House

The electoral landscape is set to shift in Rocky Mountain House as the town prepares for the upcoming by-election on February 26th.

The ballot will feature five candidates eager to fill the void left by the resignation of first-term councillor Shane Boniface on November 7, 2023.

This by-election, the second since the municipal election in 2021, will see three candidates vying for the opportunity to serve the community: Sarah Fotty, Stella Herron, Anna-Marie Loomis, Ken Moesker and Glen Waskewitch.

This will be the first election Fotty, Herron, and Loomis contest. While Waskewitch and Moesker both ran in the 2022 by-election that saw current councillor Dale N. Shippelt win. In that by-election, Moesker placed second.

The by-election process kicks off with the Advance Vote scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these early voting opportunities. Election Day itself is on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

CORRECTION An earlier version of the story indicated that 3 candidates were on the ballot. In reality, there are 5. We apologize for the confusion*
