This past weekend, Edmonton became the centre of the municipal universe.

From coast to coast to coast, local leaders from communities large and small gathered in Alberta's capital for the 125th Annual Federation of Canadian Municipalities Convention and Trade Show.

The annual convention is more than just a meeting. It's a unique opportunity for municipal leaders to come together, share ideas, tackle common challenges, explore new opportunities, and engage directly with federal decision-makers on the issues shaping communities across the country.

This year's convention also marked a significant transition for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities as the organization entered a new chapter in its 125-year history.

Ottawa City Councillor Tim Tierney officially assumed the role of FCM President, becoming the first president from Canada's capital city in more than 80 years.
