923. City of Weyburn Councillor Laura Morrisette

Welcome to Cross Border Interviews.

Our goal is to create meaningful municipal conversations that inform, connect, educate and strengthen communities from coast to coast to coast in Canada.

For this edition of Cross Border Interviews, we sat down at the most recent SUMA Convention in Regina, with Weyburn Saskatchewan Councillor Laura Morrisette.

Whether you look for commercial services or community services, you will find both are well-established in Weyburn.

Over 10,500 residents call Weyburn their home. Weyburn’s intermediate trading area services 50,000 people from nearby communities, villages and towns. Our main economic base is comprised of agricultural service and shipping, oilfield exploration, manufacturing and processing, and business and industry services.

Weyburn’s rich soils have made for excellent grain farming in the area, helping make Weyburn the country’s highest volume inland grain handling centre. Well over half a million tons of grain pass through the Weyburn terminals each and every year.
