Alberta NDP Calgary Klien nomination becomes three way race



Former Calgary Municipal Ward 7 candidate Marilyn North Peigan is running for the nomination for the Albertan NDP in the riding of Calgary-Klien according to filings with Elections Alberta.


North Peigan came fourth in the 2021 municipal election, garnering 3,784 votes on election day.

She will run for the nomination in Calgary-Klien against Mattie McMillan, and Heather Eddy. The nomination date has been set for March 26, 2022.


Calgary Klien is currently represented in Edmonton by United Conservative Party MLA Jeremy Nixon. Nixon currently serves as parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Community and Social Services for Civil Society.


Prior to Nixon representing the riding, former Alberta NDP MLA Craig Coolahan represented the riding from 2015-2019.
