Former CBI Guest Mattie McMillan announces run for Alberta NDP



Political activist, policy analyst, Mattie McMillan has thrown her hat into the ring to represent the Alberta NDP in the riding of Calgary-Klein


McMillan who sat down with the Cross Border Interviews with Chris Brown in January said in a press release that its time to have a government focused on the future of Alberta, "Ranching, farming, oil and gas got us to today. It's time we grow that list for tomorrow."


In the press release, McMillan pointed at Alberta NDP leader Rachel Notley and a leader all Albertans could depend on, "The Alberta NDP have been fighting for us during the pandemic and will continue to do so as our next government."


She is the second candidate to announce their intentions to run for the Alberta NDP in the riding of Calgary Klein, Heather Eddy is also seeking the nomination for the NDP in Calgary-Klein.


Eddy was the past candidate for the Alberta NDP in Calgary South West in the 2019 provincial election. She announced in early 2021 that she was seeking the nomination.


The Party has yet to set a nomination meeting for Calgary Klein.


Calgary Klein is currently represented by Jeremy Nixon the Parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Community and Social Services for Civil Society. Nixon is also the younger brother to Jason Nixon the current MLA for Rimbey - Rocky Mountain House - Sundre, and Government House Leader.
