Former CPC Candidate Joel Etienne set to join Leadership Race

The race to be the next leader of the Conservative Party of Canada might be getting a bit more crowded.

Joel Etienne, the former Conservative candidate in the riding of York-Centre in 2021 launched a leadership campaign website https://joeletienne.ca/.

According to the website, Etienne started his career as a human rights lawyer, and practices commercial law. He does pro bono human rights work, mainly defending Chinese dissidents from persecution by the Chinese Communist Party.

He also serves as a film & TV producer & writer, having co-created and produced a network television series, and produced an acclaimed film named Claws of the Red Dragon that exposes the dangers of the Chinese Communist Party and its enablers such as Huawei.

While a search of Etienne social media has made no mention of a launch date of his campaign, or an official leadership bid, the website asks visitors to register to vote for the candidate's leadership bid.

If he joins, the former CPC candidate will join a crowded field that includes Conservative MP's Pierre Poilievre, Leslyn Lewis, Marc Dalton, and Scott Aitchison, former Quebec Premier Jean Charest, Former Conservative Deputy Leader Leona Alleslev, Ontario Independent MPP Roman Baber, Mayor of Brampton Patrick Brown, Saskatchewan Business Owner Joseph Bourgault, and former Conservative Party candidates Bobby Singh and Joel Etienne.

Conservatives will elect a new leader on September 10th, 2022.
