Kenney names new parliamentary secretaries

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney named five new parliamentary secretaries today.


Kenney said in a press release that the new parliamentary secretaries will work with their corresponding ministers/associate ministers to help all Albertans, " Parliamentary secretaries play an important role in connecting government to Albertans and help to deliver on our commitment to grow the economy and make life better for Albertans."


Nathan Neudorf, the MLA for Lethbridge-East will be working with Minister of Environment Jason Nixon as Parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Environment and Parks for Water Stewardship.


Jeremy Nixon the MLA for Calgary-Klein will be working alongside Minsiter of Community and Social Services Jason Luan Parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Community and Social Services for Civil Society.


In the North West corner of the province, Dan Williams the MLA for Peace River will be working with Ron Orr to help reach out to Alberta cultural communities as the new Parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Culture and for la Francophonie.


Closer to Edmonton, Searle Turton the MLA for Spruce Grove-Stony Plain will be the new Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy. Turton will work alongside Minister of Energy Sonya Savage on areas of growth within the Energy Sector.


Jackie Lovely the MLA for Camrose will be working with Associate


Minister of Status of Women Whitney Issik as the new Parliamentary secretary to the Associate Minister of Status of Women.


Lovely will be tasked with outreach on ways the government can reach out and support elder women on quality-of-life issues like women’s health, housing and aging in place, personal finances, estate planning and other civil legal matters, and life events such as the death of a spouse, divorce or health crisis.


This brings the total number of parliamentary secretaries six, Including Martin Long who was appointed parliamentary secretary for small business and tourism in 2020
