Maverick Leadership officially on: Elnaga enters race



The Maverick Party Leadership race has a second contender After the Party officially announced that Tariq Elnaga has filed his paperwork and been approved to run in this May's leadership election.


Elnaga, who ran in the 2021 federal election in Banff-Airdrie. His leadership website states that "(He) found a home with his fellow “Maverick’s” who believe in a common-sense approach to the government while advocating for the industries so important to the West."


He becomes the second candidate to officially enter the race to replace former interim Leader the Hon. Jay Hill. Colin Kreiger the former Peace River - Westlock Maverick Candidate announced in January that he would be running for the leadership.



Western Canadians have until April 30th to register with the party to be eligible to vote in the May 14th Leadership Race.
