MLA Simmonds announced run for Nova Scotia Liberal Leadership



Angela Simmonds, MLA for Preston has announced her nomination for the Leadership of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party.


Simmonds said in a video that she is in, "I'm running because this party and this province need an approach to leadership that tells honest truth.


"I'm running because I am that every day Nova Scotian," Simmonds added. "I want to shape a stronger Nova Scotia, for my kids and my grandkids."

The Preston MLA said that she brings in new energy to the party and will bring that same energy to her potential leadership.


Simmonds was elected in the 2021 general election.


Iain Rankin the Leader of the Nova Scotia Liberals announced in January that he would be resigning as leader when a new leader was elected by the party membership.


Candidates will have until March 21st, to file their paperwork to run for the leadership. A vote will be held in July.
