Ontario MPP surrenders himself to Ottawa Police
Independent Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament Randy Hillier surrendered to Ottawa Police Monday Morning,
The Ottawa Police Service arrested and charged Randall Hillier the MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston for his role in the Freedom Convoy that overtook downtown Ottawa in late January, early February.
According to the Ottawa Police media release, they received multiple complaints about social media posts and other activities of an individual as part of the ongoing illegal protests that overtook the downtown core in February.
A police task force investigated criminal behaviour during the protest which lead to the arrest of two of the 'Freedom Convoys' organizer.
Hillier surrendered himself to the Ottawa Police Monday Morning.
The Independent MPP is charged with 9 counts on Monday including, Mischief/Obstruct Property Exceeding $5000, Counsel An Uncommitted Indictable Offence (Mischief), Mischief/Obstruct Property Exceeding $5000, Obstruct/Resist Person Aiding Public/Peace Officer, Obstruct/Resist A Public Officer, Assault Peace Or Public Officer, and Counsel An Uncommitted Indictable.
Hillier announced earlier this year that he was not seeking re-election.
