Webber becomes 3rd Calgary MP to throw support behind Poilievre

Len Webber, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Calgary-Confederation has thrown his support behind Carleton MP Pierre Poilievre to lead the Conservatives.

Webber announced his support in a social media post Wednesday Morning, stating why he was backing the Ontario MP, "Pierre Poilievre’s common sense (and) principled leadership is why I am supporting him for leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (and) the next Prime Minister of Canada.

"His understanding of the economy, compassion for other people & defending our rights & freedoms, makes Pierre the obvious choice," the post stated.

Webber becomes the third MP from Calgary to throw their support behind Poilievre. He follows Calgary Midnapore MP Stephanie Kusie, and Calgary Forest Lawn MP Jasraj Singh Hallan.

The Conservative Party will elect their new leader on September 10th. To date Poilievre and Ontario MP Leslyn Lewis are the only two candidates in the race. Former Quebec Premier Jean Charest is expected to announce his candidacy in Calgary Thursday Night, while former MP and Current Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is expected to announce his campaign this week as well.
