Alberta jobs one million booster shots into Albertans

With the continuous rise of the Omicron variant around the world, the Alberta government has something to be happy about, one million albertans have received a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Two million more albertans are currently eligible to receive their third dose of the vaccine according to the provincial government.

Jason Copping, the Alberta Minister of Health is urging all those albertans to get their third dose of the vaccine if they are currently eligible, " Working together, we will protect our health-care system and all Albertans."

Dr. Deena Hinshaw the chief medical officer of health for the province of Alberta said that the third dose strengthens protection against the COVID-19 virus, " I believe it is critical to use every tool at our disposal right now to protect the people and system we rely on to take care of us when we are sick. Reaching one million booster doses is a good start. I hope to see many more Albertans get their third dose as soon as possible."

While third doses of the vaccine are being administered, the provincial government has stated that over 89 per cent of Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose.

Everyone 18 years and older can book appointments for a booster dose of mRNA vaccine at least five months after receiving their second dose. Albertans 12 years and older who are immunocompromised can also book an appointment for a booster but must wait at least eight weeks after their second dose.

Book online with Alberta Health Services and participating pharmacies by using the Alberta vaccine booking system. Albertans can also call 811or participating pharmacies.
