Welcome to Municipal Affairs.
Last week, municipal leaders from across Canada travelled to Washington, D.C., to take part in a tri-lateral conference with Mayors and Municipal Leaders from The United States and Mexico.
Their mission? To strengthen relationships and push back against the ongoing trade escalations.
Among the Canadian delegation was Sturgeon County Mayor Alanna Hnatiw, who took the opportunity to deliver a clear message to U.S. officials and municipal counterparts.
But what was the response? What did she hear from American and Mexican leaders? And what impact could this growing tension have on communities back home?
We caught up with Mayor Hnatiw to discuss her key takeaways from the trip—and what comes next as today is 'Liberation Day" in the United States.
