Saskatchewan Byelection set for February 15th
After 6 months of sitting vacant, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has called a byeleciton for February 15th for the Northern riding of Athabasca.
Premier Moe said in a press release said that it's important for Athabasca residents to have representation in the Assembly in the upcoming spring sitting, "Our government will be highlighting our strong record of investments in the north, like the new elementary school in La Loche and our commitment to complete the Saskatchewan side of the Garson Lake road."
Former MLA Buckley Belanger resigned in August to run in the federal election as a Liberal in the Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River riding.
The governing Saskatchewan Party have nominated Jim Lemaigre a retired RCMP officer, while the opposition Saskatchewan NDP have nominated La Loche Mayor, and former MP, Georgina Jolibois.
The Saskatchewan Liberals, Saskatchewan Greens, Buffalo Party, and Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan have yet to name a candidate.
