Representatives from 51 of Alberta’s summer villages gathered in Edmonton during the first week of October for a two-day convention focused on the shared challenges and issues facing summer villages across every corner of the province.

Over the course of the convention, delegates heard from government officials and representatives of organizations whose work directly impacts summer villages and the communities they serve.

On the second day of the convention, we sat down with Brian Waterhouse, president of the Alberta Summer Villages Association, to discuss some of the key takeaways from the two-day gathering, the issues facing summer villages, and what comes next for an association navigating many of the same challenges as Alberta’s larger municipal organizations.
