What Does Holt's Win Mean for Municipalities?
Welcome to Municipal Affairs!
Today, we're talking about a shift in New Brunswick politics. New Brunswickers have voted for change, and in doing so, they've made history.
Susan Holt has led the New Brunswick Liberal Party to a decisive victory, ending six years of Progressive Conservative rule.
The results: 31 seats for the Liberals, 16 for the PCs, and two for the Greens.
Even outgoing Premier Blaine Higgs lost his seat.
As municipalities across the province are preparing for the new incoming government and are asking themselves: what does this mean for local governments and the issues that matter most to the communities across the province?
To help answer that, we caught up with Brittany Merrifield, the newly elected President of the Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick.
She shared her thoughts on the Holt victory and what this new government could mean for communities across the province.
