943. Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Mayor Bert Pomeroy

Welcome to Cross Border Interviews.

Our goal is to create meaningful municipal conversations that inform, connect, educate and strengthen communities from coast to coast to coast in Canada.

For this edition of Cross Border Interviews, we spoke with Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador Mayor Bert Pomeroy at the 2026 FCM Convention.

Happy Valley-Goose Bay is the only location in Labrador where road, sea and air services all come together with quality infrastructure, along with an broad range of commercial services including: government support agencies, training and professional support services.

Happy Valley-Goose Bay thrives with the region’s largest Indigenous community, celebrating a diverse heritage rooted in hunting, fishing, and trapping.

Surrounded by Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve, the Grand River, and Lake Melville, our town embraces nature’s beauty.

Accessible by air, sea, and road, Labrador’s vast wilderness spans 1100 km of highway, 6000 km of coastline, and 294,300 sq. km.
